Dough and Filling

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and beaten egg. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

  4. 4

    Prepare Butter Layer

While the dough rises, take the cold butter and place it between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick and refrigerate.

  5. 5

    Laminate the Dough

Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and roll into a large rectangle. Place the cold butter layer in the center and fold the dough over it. Roll out and fold into thirds. Repeat this process 3 times.

  6. 6

    Shape the Croissants

After the final fold, roll the dough into a large rectangle again. Cut into triangles. Roll each triangle from the base to the tip to shape the croissant.

  7. 7

    Add Flavor

At this point, add your desired flavoring to the filling (e.g., chocolate, almond paste, or fruit preserves) before rolling.

  8. 8

    Final Rise

Place the shaped croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes.

  9. 9

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the croissants for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

  10. 10

    Serve

Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with your favorite beverage!
