Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, Chinese five-spice powder, and minced garlic to create the marinade.
- 2
Marinate the Pork
Place the boneless pork shoulder in a large resealable bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the pork, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish, and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Roast the Pork
Remove the pork from the marinade and place it on a baking rack in a roasting pan. Reserve the marinade for basting. Roast the pork in the preheated oven for about 1.5 hours, basting with the reserved marinade every 30 minutes.
- 5
Check for Doneness
The pork is done when its internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- 6
Cook the Rice
While the pork is resting, cook the rice according to package instructions.
- 7
Serve
Slice the pork and serve it over a bed of rice. Drizzle with additional honey char siu sauce if desired.
