Pickle Chips
Method
Preparation
- 1
Slice the Pickles
Wash the pickles under cold water, then slice them into 1/4 inch thick chips.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Prepare the Wet Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until smooth.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Pickle Chips
Dip each pickle chip into the wet mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then dredge in the dry breading mixture until fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Chips
Carefully place the coated pickle chips in the hot oil in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickle chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve hot with ranch dressing on the side.
