Cheese Curds

Method

Cheese Curds Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Curds

Place the Wisconsin cheese curds in a bowl and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well mixed.

  3. 3

    Add Beer

Slowly pour the beer into the dry mixture while whisking continuously until you have a smooth batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the cheese curds.

Frying the Cheese Curds

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat the Cheese Curds

Dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

  3. 6

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully place the coated cheese curds into the hot oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  4. 7

    Drain and Cool

Remove the fried cheese curds from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Ranch Dipping Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  2. 9

    Garnish

Stir in the chopped fresh parsley for garnish. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Serving

  1. 10

    Serve the Cheese Curds

Serve the warm cheese curds on a platter with the ranch dipping sauce on the side for dipping.
