Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Cook the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer or cheesecloth-lined steamer for about 25-30 minutes, until tender.
- 3
Make the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
- 4
Combine Rice and Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about 3/4 of the coconut sauce over the rice. Mix gently to combine and let it sit for about 20 minutes.
- 5
Prepare the Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes, slice them, and set aside.
- 6
Serve
On a plate, serve a portion of the sticky rice topped with sliced mango. Drizzle remaining coconut sauce on top and garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans, if desired.
