Prepare the Brownie Layer
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter. Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar until well combined.

Add 3 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 0.75 cups of cocoa powder, 0.5 tsp of baking powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.

Prepare the Cookie Layer
In another mixing bowl, melt 0.5 cup of unsalted butter. Stir in 0.5 cup of granulated sugar and 0.5 cup of brown sugar.

Add 1 large egg and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 0.5 tsp of baking soda, and 0.25 tsp of salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined. Fold in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough on top of the brownie layer, spreading gently to cover the surface.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the brookies to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing into squares and serving.
