Flan Ingredients

Method

Flan Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it cook until it turns a golden amber color. This should take about 10 minutes. Be careful not to burn the sugar.

  2. 2

Quickly pour the caramel into a round flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

  3. 3

    Blend the Flan Mixture

In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well combined.

  4. 4

    Bake the Flan

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the mold or ramekins. Place the mold or ramekins in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold.

  5. 5

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let it cool.

  6. 6

    Chill and Serve

Once cooled, refrigerate the flan for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan and invert onto a serving plate. Enjoy your Flan!
