1. Prepare the Grapes
Crush the red grapes in a clean container or wine press to extract the juice. Remove any stems or leaves.
2. Add Campden Tablets
Dissolve 5 Campden tablets in a small amount of water and add to the grape juice to prevent spoilage. Let it sit for 24 hours.
3. Add Yeast
After 24 hours, sprinkle the packet of wine yeast over the grape juice. Do not stir. Cover with a cloth and let it ferment for about 7-10 days.
4. Monitor Fermentation
Stir the mixture daily and check for bubbling, which indicates fermentation. Once bubbling slows down, proceed to the next step.
5. Add Sugar
Dissolve 2 cups of sugar in a small amount of warm water and add it to the fermentation vessel. Stir gently to mix.
6. Secondary Fermentation
Transfer the mixture to a clean glass carboy for secondary fermentation. Attach an airlock and let it ferment for 4-6 weeks.
7. Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, siphon the wine into clean bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal with corks.
8. Aging
Store the bottles in a cool, dark place for at least 6 months to allow the flavors to develop.
