Grilled Cheese and French Fried Potatoes

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into thin strips. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a paper towel. Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then season with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Grilled Cheese

While the potatoes are frying, heat a skillet over medium heat. Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the cheddar and Gruyère cheese.

  4. 4

    Cook the Sandwich

Top with the other slices of bread, buttered side up. Cook the sandwiches in the skillet until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Ensure the cheese is melted.

  5. 5

    Serve

Slice the grilled cheese sandwiches in half and serve immediately with the French fried potatoes on the side.
