Fried Chicken

Herbed Buttermilk Dressing

Mac and Cheese

Method

Fried Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add the chicken pieces and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

  3. 3

    Fry the Chicken

Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Fry chicken in batches for about 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

Herbed Buttermilk Dressing

  1. 4

    Make the Dressing

In a bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, mayonnaise, parsley, chives, garlic, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Mac and Cheese

  1. 5

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 6

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Add the cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is thickened.

  3. 7

    Combine and Serve

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine. Serve alongside the fried chicken with the herbed buttermilk dressing.
