Crispy Fried Half Chicken Ingredients
Method
Crispy Fried Half Chicken Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken halves and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a shallow dish, mix the flour with the dried herbs, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat and Fry the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each half in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil and fry for about 12-15 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).
