Käsespätzle Ingredients

Method

Käsespätzle Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Spätzle Dough

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, eggs, milk, salt, and nutmeg until a smooth, thick batter forms.

  2. 2

    Cook the Spätzle

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Using a Spätzle maker or a colander, press the dough into the boiling water. Cook until the Spätzle float to the top, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté Onions

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Combine Spätzle and Cheese

Add the cooked Spätzle to the skillet with the onions. Stir in the grated cheese until melted and well combined. Season with black pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Serve

Transfer the Käsespätzle to a serving dish, and enjoy while hot!
