Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Prepare Toppings

While the dough is rising, prepare the toppings by slicing the onions, mushrooms, and apples. Cook the bacon until crispy and crumble it. If using nuts, lightly toast them in a pan.

  3. 3

    Assemble Flammkuchen

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle. Spread sour cream evenly over the dough. Layer with onions, mushrooms, apples, bacon, and nuts. Season with black pepper and sprinkle parsley on top.

  4. 4

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden brown and crispy. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing.
