Preparation

   Prepare the Glass

   Start by rimming the glass with salt. To do this, rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and then dip the rim into a plate of salt, ensuring an even coating.

   Mix the Cocktail

   In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of triple sec, 1 oz of fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until chilled.

   Strain and Serve

   Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice. If you prefer a straight-up margarita, you can serve it without ice in a chilled glass.

   Garnish

   Garnish the cocktail with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
