Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, Aleppo chili flakes, and sea salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

Combine Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and soft butter until smooth.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.

Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry Hush Puppies
Using a tablespoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally.

Drain and Serve
Remove hush puppies from oil and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with additional sea salt if desired.

Drizzle with Hot Honey
Before serving, drizzle hot honey over the hush puppies to taste.
