In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the whiskey, maraschino liqueur, sweet vermouth, and bitters.

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain the mixture into a chilled rocks glass over a large ice cube.

Garnish with a maraschino cherry and an expressed orange peel by holding the peel over the drink and giving it a twist to release the oils.
