Brioche Loaf Ingredients

Method

Brioche Loaf Directions

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, warm the milk until it's lukewarm. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Once the yeast is activated, add it to this mixture.

  4. 4

    Combine and Knead Dough

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

  6. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into three equal pieces. Roll each piece into a log and braid them together. Place the braid in a greased loaf pan.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the loaf with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another hour until it puffs up.

  8. 8

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  9. 9

    Bake the Loaf

Brush the risen loaf with the egg wash. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  10. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve.
