Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Cook the Bucatini

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook bucatini according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Beef Mixture

In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  3. 3

    Caramelize the Onions

In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook over low heat until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked bucatini, browned beef, caramelized onions, diced pickles, and 1 cup of the 7-cheese blend. Mix well.

  5. 5

    Form the Balls

Using your hands, form the mixture into golf ball-sized balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

Coat with Remaining Cheese and Sesame Seeds

Sprinkle the remaining cheese and sesame seeds over the formed balls.

  7. 7

    Bake the Balls

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the mac balls for 20-25 minutes or until golden and crispy.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve warm with special sauce and shredded lettuce on the side.
