Method
Prepare the Tart Crust
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the ice water a tablespoon at a time until the dough comes together.
- 2
Chill the Dough
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Roll Out the Dough
After chilling, roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit your tart pan. Place the rolled dough in the pan and trim the edges.
- 4
Pre-bake the Crust
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and bake for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool.
Prepare the Mincemeat Filling
- 5
Mix the Filling
In a bowl, combine the mincemeat filling, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Assemble and Bake
- 6
Fill the Tart
Pour the mincemeat filling into the pre-baked tart crust, spreading it evenly.
- 7
Bake the Tart
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the filling is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Allow the tart to cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar and serving with whipped cream if desired.
