Spread Russian dressing on one side of each rye bread slice.

Toast the rye bread slices in a skillet over medium heat until lightly golden and fragrant.

Warm the pastrami slices in a skillet or steamer until steaming hot.

Place Swiss cheese slices on one bread slice, then layer the hot pastrami on top of the cheese to begin melting it.

If desired, place a second Swiss cheese slice on top of the pastrami for extra melt.

Spread the remaining Russian dressing on the other bread slice, then top with coleslaw.

Assemble the sandwich by placing the dressed bread (dressing side down) onto the pastrami and coleslaw, cheese-side up where applicable.

Press the sandwich in the skillet briefly to melt the cheese and crisp the bread further.

Remove from heat, slice the sandwich in half, and serve immediately while hot.
