Main Ingredients

Method

Method

  1. 1

    Prep and season

Pat the Wagyu beef dry and slice as thin as possible. In a bowl, season the beef evenly with 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 0.5 teaspoon black pepper.

  2. 2

    Slice vegetables

Trim and slice the onion into thin strips. Slice mushrooms and peppers into even thin pieces to ensure quick cooking and even melting of cheese later.

  3. 3

    Sauté vegetables

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and mushrooms; sauté 5–7 minutes until golden and caramelized. Add peppers and cook 2–3 more minutes until peppers are crisp-tender. Remove vegetables and set aside.

  4. 4

    Cook Wagyu beef

In the same skillet over high heat, add the seasoned Wagyu beef in a single layer. Sear for 1–2 minutes, then toss and cook 2–3 minutes more until just cooked through. Do not overcook the Wagyu to preserve tenderness.

  5. 5

    Melt cheese over beef

Return the sautéed onions, mushrooms, and peppers to the pan with the beef. Lay the white American cheese slices over the mixture and cover briefly to melt into a gooey blanket, stirring gently to combine.

  6. 6

    Toast rolls

Split the hoagie rolls and spread a light layer of butter on the exterior. Toast in a separate skillet or under a broiler until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Assemble and serve

Fill each toasted roll with the cheesy Wagyu mixture. If desired, fold in extra cheese for extra melt. Serve hot immediately for the best texture and flavor.
