Oysters and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oysters

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Carefully shuck the oysters, discarding the top shell and keeping the oyster in the bottom shell. Place them in a baking dish.

  2. 2

    Make the Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped shallots and garlic, and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream, parsley, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Dish

Spoon the cream sauce evenly over each oyster in the baking dish. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs generously on top.

  4. 4

    Bake the Oysters

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbling.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Serve the Oyster Norman warm, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
