Preparation Steps
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly under cold running water. Pat them dry with a clean towel.
- 3
Poke Holes
Using a fork, poke several holes in each potato to allow steam to escape during baking.
- 4
Season the Potatoes
Rub each potato with a little butter and sprinkle with salt for added flavor.
- 5
Bake the Potatoes
Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork easily pierces the flesh.
- 6
Prepare Toppings
While the potatoes are baking, chop the green onions and set them aside.
- 7
Serve
Once the potatoes are done, remove them from the oven. Cut a slit down the center of each potato, add a pat of butter, spoon in some sour cream, and top with chopped green onions. Season with black pepper to taste.
