For the Onion Rings

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually add the beer (or sparkling water) while whisking until the batter is smooth.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the coated onion rings in the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
