Method

Preparing the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. Add the halved lemon and Old Bay seasoning.

  2. 2

    Cook Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Ice Bath

Remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately place them in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Chill

Drain the shrimp and place them in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the cocktail sauce.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce to taste.

  2. 6

    Mix Well

Stir the mixture until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning with more horseradish or hot sauce if desired.
