Filet Mignon Preparation
- 1
Season the Steak
Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Cook the Steak
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the filet mignon and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare).
- 3
Rest the Steak
Remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a plate. Cover it loosely with aluminum foil and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
