Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Making the Cake Batter

Melt Butter and Chocolate
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely melted and smooth.

Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted chocolate mixture, powdered sugar, flour, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined and smooth.
Baking the Cake

Fill Ramekins
Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

Cool Slightly
Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate to release the cake.

Serve the warm chocolate lava cakes immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
