Method

Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into round patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place cheddar cheese slices on top of the patties and cover to melt.

Toppings

  1. 5

    Prepare the Toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaf and slice the tomato and onion into thin rings.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Cheeseburger

Place the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of the bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, onion rings, and then cover with the top half of the bun.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, with your favorite condiments on the side.
