Cheese Curds

Method

Cheese Curds Preparation

  1. 1

    Set Up Breading Station

In three shallow bowls, place the all-purpose flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs in the second bowl, and put the breadcrumbs mixed with salt and black pepper in the third bowl.

  2. 2

    Bread the Cheese Curds

Take a cheese curd, dredge it in the flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat with all cheese curds.

Fry Cheese Curds

  1. 3

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a piece of breadcrumb in; if it sizzles, it's ready.

  2. 4

    Fry the Curds

Carefully add the breaded cheese curds to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook Garlic

In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

  3. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the marinara sauce to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

Serve

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Serve the hot fried cheese curds with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
