Fried Calamari
Method
Fried Calamari Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Gradually whisk in the cold water until smooth, creating a batter.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 3
Coat the Calamari
Dip the calamari rings into the batter, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- 4
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the battered calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 5
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
