Clam Chowder Ingredients

Method

Clam Chowder Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pot.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add butter to the pot with the bacon drippings. Once melted, add the chopped onion and celery. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Cook Potatoes

Add the diced potatoes and chicken broth to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.

  4. 4

    Thicken the Chowder

Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes, then add the chopped clams, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Stir well to combine.

  5. 5

    Finish and Serve

Cook for an additional 10 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve hot, garnished with crispy bacon and chopped parsley.
