Waffle Fries Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into waffle shapes using a waffle cutter or a sharp knife, making sure each piece is about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
- 3
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the correct temperature.
- 5
Fry the Waffle Fries
Carefully add the dried waffle fries to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry them for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Season
Remove the fries using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste.
- 7
Serve
Serve the waffle fries warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
