In a large saucepan, bring the milk to a boil over medium heat. Add the soaked and drained basmati rice to the boiling milk and reduce the heat to low.

Cook the Rice

Simmer the rice in milk for about 30-35 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking. Cook until the rice is tender and the mixture thickens.

Stir in the sugar, cardamom powder, vanilla extract, saffron strands, and raisins. Mix well and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Add Sweetness and Flavor

Remove from heat and stir in the chopped nuts. Reserve some for garnish if desired.
