Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

1

Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2

Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil. Mix until a dough starts to form.

3

Knead Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4

Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

5

Prepare Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, sugar, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Assemble and Steam Buns

6

Shape Buns

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into a disc. Place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center.

7

Seal Buns

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal tightly. Ensure there are no gaps.

8

Prepare Steamer

Line the steamer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Arrange the buns in the basket, leaving space between each to expand.

9

Steam Buns

Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Place the steamer basket over the pot, cover, and steam the buns for about 15-20 minutes until puffed and cooked through.
