Method
Dough Preparation
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg. Stir until combined.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball.
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Bun Formation
Shape the Buns
After the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide the dough into small pieces (about 1.5 oz each) and shape them into small balls.
Second Rise
Place the shaped buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare for Baking
Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds over them.
Bake the Buns
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
