Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

1

Mixing the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 tsp of salt. Gradually add 3 tbs of water to the flour while mixing with chopsticks or a fork until the mixture forms a rough dough.

2

Kneading the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a clean surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

3

Mixing the Filling

In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of ground pork, 1 cup of finely chopped cabbage, 1 tbs of chopped green onions, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 tbs of minced ginger, 2 tbs of soy sauce, 1 tbs of sesame oil, and 1 tsp of pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined thoroughly.

Dumpling Assembly

4

Rolling the Dough

After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into a flat circle on a lightly floured surface, about 3 inches in diameter.

5

Filling the Dumplings

Place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle. Carefully fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges together to seal tightly.

Cooking

6

Steaming the Dumplings

Prepare a steamer by boiling water in a pot. Line the steamer basket with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. Place dumplings in the steamer, making sure they are not touching each other. Cover and steam for about 15 minutes.

7

Serving

Once done, carefully remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
