Dumpling Dough

Method

Prepare the Dumpling Dough

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the milk and egg. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 2-3 minutes until smooth. Cover and set aside.

Make the Chicken Filling

  1. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In a skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Combine Filling Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix the sautéed vegetables with the shredded chicken, chicken broth, salt, black pepper, and fresh parsley. Stir until well combined.

Assemble and Cook Dumplings

  1. 6

    Roll Out Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dumpling dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out circles using a cookie cutter or glass.

  2. 7

    Fill Dumplings

Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold over and pinch the edges to seal tightly.

  3. 8

    Cook Dumplings

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully drop the dumplings into the boiling water and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
