Method
Ice Cream Preparation
Prepare the Ice Cream Base
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours to firm up before serving.
Sorbet Preparation
Prepare the Fruit Puree
In a blender, combine the fresh fruit, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and water. Blend until smooth and the sugar is dissolved.
Chill the Mixture
Pour the fruit puree into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill.
Churn the Sorbet
Pour the chilled fruit mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a slushy consistency.
Freeze the Sorbet
Transfer the churned sorbet to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours to firm up before serving.
