Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Mushrooms

Clean the portabella mushrooms and remove the stems. Brush both sides with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a small pan, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  4. 4

    Add Marinara and Basil

In a bowl, mix the sautéed garlic with marinara sauce and chopped fresh basil.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Place the mushrooms on a baking sheet, gill side up. Spoon marinara sauce mixture generously over each mushroom. Top with equal amounts of Pecorino Romano and Provolone cheeses.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
