Preparation
1. Prepare the mozzarella
Cut the fresh mozzarella cheese into 1-inch thick slices and set aside.
2. Set up the breading station
In one shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with salt and black pepper.
3. Bread the mozzarella
Dredge each slice of mozzarella in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the slice in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
4. Fry the mozzarella
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded mozzarella slices, working in batches if necessary. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
5. Drain and serve
Remove the fried mozzarella from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with fresh marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
