Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Clams

Rinse the fresh clams under cold water and soak them in salted water for about 30 minutes to remove sand. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Linguine

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain the rest.

  3. 3

    Sauté Garlic and Clams

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the clams and stir to combine.

  4. 4

    Add Sauce Ingredients

Pour in the white wine (or crushed tomatoes for red sauce) and add the red pepper flakes. Cover the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams have opened. Discard any clams that do not open.

  5. 5

    Combine with Linguine

Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss to combine with the clam sauce. If the mixture is too dry, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and stir in chopped parsley. Serve hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
