Chowder Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon, crumble it, and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pot.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same pot, add the chopped onion and celery to the bacon fat. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Potatoes and Broth

Stir in the diced potatoes, chicken broth, thyme, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Clams and Cream

Once the potatoes are tender, add the clams and heavy cream. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing it to heat through.

  5. 5

    Season and Serve

Season the chowder with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with the crumbled bacon.
