For the Blackened Salmon

For the Maple Brown Butter

For the Balsamic Glaze

Method

Preparing the Salmon

  1. 1

    Make the Blackening Spice

In a small bowl, mix together paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Season the Salmon

Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the salmon fillets.

  3. 3

    Cook the Salmon

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add salmon fillets and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until blackened and cooked through. Remove from heat.

Making the Maple Brown Butter

  1. 4

    Brown the Butter

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Continue cooking until it begins to brown and develops a nutty aroma, stirring frequently.

  2. 5

    Add Maple Syrup

Once browned, remove from heat and stir in maple syrup. Set aside.

Making the Balsamic Glaze

  1. 6

    Reduce the Balsamic Vinegar

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine balsamic vinegar and honey. Bring to a simmer and cook until the mixture is reduced by half and thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Serve the blackened salmon drizzled with maple brown butter and balsamic glaze.
