Cheese Nuggets

Marinara Sauce

Method

Cheese Nuggets

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Grate the white cheddar cheese using a cheese grater until you have 2 cups. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In another bowl, beat the 2 large eggs until well mixed.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Breadcrumbs

Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl. This will be used for coating the cheese nuggets.

  5. 5

    Form the Nuggets

Take about a tablespoon of grated cheese and form it into a nugget shape. Repeat until all cheese is used.

  6. 6

    Coat the Nuggets

Roll each cheese nugget first in the flour mixture, then dip it into the egg wash, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.

  7. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  8. 8

    Fry the Nuggets

Carefully place the coated cheese nuggets into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  9. 9

    Drain and Cool

Remove the fried nuggets and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 10

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 11

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 12

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the marinara sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 13

    Serve

Once the cheese nuggets are cooked and the marinara sauce is ready, serve the cheese nuggets hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
