Potatoes

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into quarters. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.

  2. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let the potatoes cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.

  3. 3

    Drain the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them in a colander and let them sit for a minute to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Mash the Potatoes

Return the drained potatoes to the pot. Add the stick of butter and begin mashing with a potato masher until smooth.

  5. 5

    Add Cream and Season

Gradually pour in the heavy cream while continuing to mash the potatoes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

If desired, stir in chopped chives for added flavor. Serve warm.
