Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into small chunks. Place them in a pot and cover with water. Boil for about 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

  2. 2

    Cook Ground Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Season Beef

Once the beef is cooked, add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well to combine and remove from heat.

  2. 4

    Mash Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash with a potato masher until smooth. You can add a little butter or milk if desired for creaminess.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Combine

In a large baking dish, spread the mashed potatoes evenly at the bottom. Top with the seasoned ground beef.

  2. 6

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the beef layer.

  3. 7

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 8

    Top with Toppings

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Top with sour cream, chopped green onions, and bacon bits before serving.

  2. 9

    Serve

Scoop out portions and serve warm.
