Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Peel and devein the prawns if not already done. Finely chop the onion and tomato, mince the garlic, and grate the ginger. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook the Onions

In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until fragrant.

  2. 3

    Add Aromatics

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate Tomatoes and Spices

Add the chopped tomato to the pan and cook until softened. Stir in coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, chili powder, and salt. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to let the spices bloom.

  4. 5

    Add Prawns and Coconut Milk

Add the prawns to the pan, stirring to coat them with the spice mixture. Pour in the coconut milk and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  5. 6

    Simmer the Curry

Cook the curry for about 5-7 minutes, or until the prawns are fully cooked and opaque. Adjust seasoning with salt if necessary.

  6. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped coriander. Serve hot with rice or naan.
