Dumplings

Sugar Syrup

For Frying

Method

Prepare the Dumplings

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, baking soda, ghee, and cardamom powder. Mix thoroughly until it resembles breadcrumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Milk

Gradually add milk and knead the mixture into a soft, smooth dough. If it's too sticky, add a little more flour.

  3. 3

    Rest the Dough

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Shape the Dumplings

After resting, grease your hands with a little ghee and divide the dough into small, equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball.

Prepare the Sugar Syrup

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stir well and bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Add Flavorings

Once the sugar dissolves, add rose water and saffron strands. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. 7

    Cool the Syrup

Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool while you prepare the dumplings.

Fry the Dumplings

  1. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat ghee or vegetable oil over medium heat.

  2. 9

    Fry the Dumplings

Carefully slide the dumplings into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry until they are golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.

  3. 10

    Drain and Soak

Once cooked, remove the dumplings from the oil and drain on paper towels. Immediately immerse them in the warm sugar syrup.

Serve

  1. 11

    Rest in Syrup

Allow the dumplings to soak in the syrup for at least 30 minutes before serving to absorb the sweetness.

  2. 12

    Garnish and Serve

Serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with additional saffron or crushed pistachios if desired.
