Fish Preparation

Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Fish

In a bowl, combine the fish fillets, lemon juice, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix well to coat the fish evenly with the marinade.

  2. 2

    Rest the Fish

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Masala Preparation

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Sauté Onions

Add the finely chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Garlic and Ginger

Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 6

    Incorporate Green Chilies

Add the slit green chilies to the pan and cook for another minute.

  5. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in the chopped tomatoes, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil separates from the masala, about 5-6 minutes.

  6. 8

    Add the Marinated Fish

Gently place the marinated fish fillets into the masala, ensuring they are covered by the sauce. Cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.

  7. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Once done, remove from heat, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve hot with rice or bread.
