Method
Preparation of Chicken Wings
- 1
Season the Wings
In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss well to coat the wings evenly.
- 2
Marinate
Let the wings marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.
Frying
- 3
Heat Oil
In a deep fryer or large heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Wings
Carefully add the marinated chicken wings in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Drain
Remove the wings from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Sauce Preparation
- 6
BBQ Sauce
In a saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Buffalo Sauce
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the hot sauce, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well and keep warm.
- 8
Ranch Dressing
In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Serving
- 9
Toss and Serve
Toss the fried chicken wings in the desired sauce (BBQ, Buffalo, or serve with Ranch dressing on the side). Serve hot.
